Zen Meditation

Zen Meditation, or Zazen, is a central practice in Zen Buddhism that emphasizes simplicity, stillness, and direct experience. Practiced while seated in a specific posture, Zazen involves focusing on the breath, observing thoughts without attachment, or simply being present without an object of focus (shikantaza). The aim is to develop insight into the nature of the mind and reality by sitting with awareness and openness. Unlike guided or technique-driven styles, Zazen values silence and discipline. Practitioners often meditate in groups (sanghas) and follow a structured routine. Zazen fosters deep calm, clarity, and a grounded sense of being in the here and now.
